Last week I gave you a tiny sneak peek into what I have planned for Alyssa’s living room makeover. She loves to be on the water and likes to decorate with neutrals and light blues and greens. My home is full of wood tones, moody art and rich colors. It’s fun for me to flex my decorating muscles and put together a living room so different than my own! I loved putting this mood board together. There are many pieces I want to buy for myself. (I’m particularly obsessed with the wall art from World Market. I want my kitchen counters to look like that!) I’ll be sharing a slightly different “look” for the room later this week.
Clockwise from left: console / art / plant / couch / accent table (similar) / throw (similar) / floor vase / coordinate print / Emerson print / credenza / pouf / “home” pillow / basket / floor lamp / pillow (similar) / tray (similar) / table lamp and drum shade / area rug / coffee table
Alyssa has a couch, chair and ottoman that were given to her from her parent’s house, and those items will stay. She also has a matching coffee table, console table and end table set that may or may not stay in the room. Starting mostly from scratch can be pricey! I’m encouraging Alyssa to spend the bulk of her money on pieces that will anchor the room and (hopefully) last a long time, such as an area rug, a large piece of art for her reading nook and a wide credenza or bookshelf to be placed under her wall-mounted TV. The console, coffee table table and poufs might not make it in the room right away, but they’re pieces to consider for the future.
Which item do you like most?
