How would you describe your decorating style? I describe mine as a thoughtful mix of old and new, with unexpected eclectic touches. One of my favorite aspects of my job is that my clients don’t always have the same style as me, which allows me to play around with colors, patterns and shapes that aren’t necessarily displayed in my own home.
I love to see what decorating quizzes say about my style — some get me, and others are way off! Here are a few to check out:
This quiz has one question: which line of items do you like best? This was a little tricky for me because I like at least one item from every line! My first instinct was A, followed by D (that couch! that chandelier!). The results described my personal style perfectly!
As you can tell from the screen shot, this quiz is WEIRD. Many of the questions have nothing to do decor, and more to do with your personality. I really struggled with answering the questions. My result was “transitional,” which is accurate, but also kind of a cop-out. Transitional style is a mix of traditional and contemporary, and to me it’s too vague of a style description.
I took the quiz again and answered the questions randomly, and the result was “coastal.” Judging by my answers, this result was WAY off in my opinion. I wouldn’t necessarily trust this quiz!
(Also, my bedroom dresser is actually mid-century, but that wasn’t an option!)
A few of these questions were hard for me to answer, but I went with my instincts. According to my answers, I am 30% formal, 0% French country and 70% vintage. (I like many aspects of French country design, but it’s not how I decorate my own home.) I thought it was interesting that the quiz results were broken down into only these three categories. It’s quite limiting!
What’s your décor style by Domaine
I took this quiz three times and answered differently each time, and I got “California Eclectic” as my only result. I LOVE that style, but it’s not how I decorate my home. (I do own many items that would work for that style, though.) The only thing I really got from this quiz was a craving for coffee and a croissant. Ha!
Oddly enough, the quiz with only one question was the most accurate! By blending the results of A and D, here’s what I get: "You gravitate towards classic formal design, but are relaxed and updated given how we actually live today. You proudly showcase family heirlooms, but aren't afraid of new furniture, as long as you recognize the familiar shapes. You like items with a story and you are less worried about them "going together." You like to mix up different elements to create a stylish mish-mash that reflects your unique point of view.” That’s pretty spot on!
Did you take any of these quizzes? What were your results? Did your results surprise you?
